Rodney Lewis

Rodney has developed a special interest practice in Elder Law and is partly responsible for introducing that part of legal practice to NSW through the University of Western Sydney course in Elder Law including the publication of articles and presentations. He has a Community Service Award and was formerly a member of the ‘Elder Law & Succession Committee’ at the Law Society of NS W. In his paper ‘Guardianship and Financial Management’ Rodney explores the important professional duties and pitfalls in acting for clients who are ‘losing it’. He also deals with the assistance which can be available through the NCAT Guardianship Division in difficult cases. Finally, the paper includes the latest proposals from the ALRC on assisted decision making together with the views expressed by the NSWLRC.
